Australian Consumer Rights

Last updated: October 2026

Central Locksmiths Gold Coast provides services and goods to consumers in Australia. This statement sets out your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), which forms Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).

Consumer guarantees

When we supply services to a consumer, our services come with automatic guarantees that cannot be excluded. We guarantee that our services will be rendered with due care and skill, that they are fit for the purpose you make known to us, and that they are delivered within a reasonable time where no time is agreed.

When we supply goods (such as locks, cylinders or hardware), those goods come with guarantees of acceptable quality, fitness for purpose, matching description and clear title, among others. These guarantees apply in addition to any express warranty we or the manufacturer provide.

What happens if there is a failure

If a failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have us remedy the failure. The remedy may be the re-supply of the service or the repair, replacement or refund of goods, at our option.

If the failure amounts to a major failure, you are entitled to:

  • Cancel the service contract with us and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the service; or
  • Keep the service and obtain compensation for any reduction in its value below the price paid.

For goods with a major failure, you are entitled to a refund or a replacement. A major failure is one where a reasonable consumer would not have acquired the goods or services had they known the nature and extent of the failure.

Our commitment

We will assess each complaint fairly and promptly. If you believe a service or product we have supplied does not meet a consumer guarantee, contact us with the details and proof of purchase, and we will work with you to provide an appropriate remedy under the ACL.

Changes to mind

The consumer guarantees are not the same as a change-of-mind return policy. We are not required to provide a refund or exchange if you simply change your mind. Please see our Refund & Return Policy for our approach to change-of-mind situations.
